Lists

March 30, 2007 1 comment

Heading out of town this weekend which means I’ll have to pack.  I’ll be making lists and checking stuff off! I think my favorite part of anything is making lists. Which is kind of why I like 43things. Make a list of things you want to do (maximum 43 things, hence the name) and do it. So far I’ve accomplished only a few things but it has helped me organize what I want to do. While it might seem a bit gimmicky, its a way to meet people who share similiar interests, all the while trying to accomplish stuff you want to do in life. Anyone who knows me, knows I’m big on self-improvement (and empowerment [eww, i just used a buzz word]). I think allowing the technology (websites/services/machines) handle things for you, lets you keep your hands free to do the important things. Personally, I believe in letting the machines work for me and not against me. But they always want to work against me. The savages! Fun word: resistentialism (#22 on the list).

Anyway, gotta get packing. Off to new adventures!

Offline

March 28, 2007 Leave a comment

Well I’ve been offline for about a day now. I got a new DSL modem; its pretty much plug and play. I took the liberty of finding the manual for it and it turns out he firmware is pretty robust for just a dsl modem. While it is plug and play, I use a non-standard setup and spent most of the day fighting with it. Mostly it wasn’t being nice. But anyway, I got a net connection again and I am still having issues with decreased speed. :( Hopefully, I can figure out whats wrong soon.

Datarock

March 27, 2007 Leave a comment

Well while trolling through the vast gem mine that is videosift, I stubmeld upon these two blokes. They call themselves Datarock and you can view one of their more popluar songs off their album Fa-Fa-Fa. They can probably be best described as Electronic/Rock. The song below called Computer Camp Love is definitely Nerdcore in my opinion.

While I’m not terribly taken by the song lyrically speaking, the beat certainly is very catchy. They are touring in the UK area it seems, so all you Brits get a chance to check em out live.

Pic of the Week

March 26, 2007 Leave a comment

Well the big cheese over at cult-of-tech.net is going to start a photo of the week thing.  Basically he’s going to be taking a picture of something thats a theme of the week.  The picture basically has to demonstrate artistic as well as technical proficency.  He’s invited me and sollemnis to do a picture of the week too.  I believe I will give it a go.  This week’s photo idea is a macro shot of a flower.  Yes I know, not exactly original or unique, but its a good starter.  So as soon as I find a good flower to macro, I’ll post the image.  I should have something I’m happy with by Thursday.

Upgrade!

March 23, 2007 Leave a comment

Well I finally got the video card eVGA was sending me. 2 weeks without a machine that I can get work done on sucks. But the good news is that I sent them a 7900 256mb GT CO card and they sent me back an 7950 512mb card! Woot, incedental upgrade! Woo! :) Everything seems much snappier now and WoW is running with everything on full. It is pretty nice. So far so good. No issues with shearing or tearing. I hope it stays that way.

Nerdcore!

I haven’t posted in a few days, but oh look! a new page!  Yes, get the freshness that is nerdcore intel here.  I’m working on tracking the various on-goings with the Nerdcore movement.  From people, to events, new tracks etc.  The page is a work in progress, so hopefully I’ll add more stuff soon.

Watches

I like watches. Digital mostly. Sometimes even analog. Here are some fancy looking watchings that can be rather impractical to read, but cool nonetheless.

Fascinating history of an influencial beat sequence (with copyright overtones):
